About FLIP
FLIP is a card game that uses a normal deck of playing cards and is played with 2 to 4 players. A field is created by
using face-down cards, while your face-up cards battle on top of them against other players' face-up cards, where the
higher valued cards win. The name FLIP comes from the ability to flip a pile of cards on the field upside-down, making
the cards on the bottom playable and the cards on the top become the field.
The following is a list of the playing cards ranked by their value from highest to lowest:
A, K, Q, J, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, A
The Ace is the highest card when attacking, but is the lowest card when being attacked.
Setting up the Game
1) Split a 52 card playing card deck into either colors (2 decks) or suits (4 decks).
2) Shuffle the separate decks and give one to each player.
3) Take an equal number of cards (Recommended: 4-8) from each deck and shuffle them into a new pile.
4) Place the cards face-down adjacent to each other to make the field. (Recommended: Make an equal sized field, such as
4x4)
5) Decide which player goes first.
Phases of Your Turn
Draw Phase: (If there isn't an open space in the field, space with only face-down cards, then skip this phase)
1] Draw a card from your deck and look at it.
2] Place the card face-up on an open space in the field.
Action Phase: (You may perform only one of the following actions per turn)
3] Flip one pile of cards on the field upside-down. (Note: You cannot flip a pile that was flipped on the last turn)
Or
3] Move a face-up card of yours onto an adjacent space that is either empty or has an enemy card with equal to or less
value than yours. (Note: You cannot move a card that was placed on the field during the same turn)
End Phase:
4] Your turn ends. The player to your left begins their turn.
How to Win the Game
If you have no cards left in your deck and no face-up cards on the field, then you are out of the game until another
player flips one of your cards face-up again. The last player left in the game is declared the winner.
